"One of the best widgets that I have. This works better than scanning USGS web pages to keep tabs on the current gage level or flow rate at favorite paddling sites." - Versiontracker user

The whitewater widget lets you check the flows of your favorite US rivers right from your dashboard. The widget downloads data from the USGS and graphs it in real time. We would like to add Canada but they do not allow access to raw flow data. Does your country? Let us know.

How to Use

Here is the front side of the widget in action.

Whitewater Widget Front

After the data loads from the internet, just choose a river from the pull-down menu. There are a few default rivers to get you started. After you select a river and the graph appers you can switch between CFS and FT by using the FEET icon in the upper right corner. To quickly scroll through the rivers use the NEXT icon also in the upper right corner. If you double click on a graph it will take you to the USGS page for that station. To add more rivers, click on the INFO icon in the lower right corner. This brings up the backside.

Whitewater Widget Back

Here is where you can set up your custom list of rivers. First choose a state you want to find a USGS station and wait for the station list to apper. Now select a station. You aren't done yet - you must click the ADD icon (plus sign) to add the station to your list. You may continue to add stations from that state or select another state for additional stations.

To edit the default station name from what USGS gives you, click the EDIT button and change the text - then click the SAVE button. You can move the stations up and down on the list by highlighting the station name in your list and clicking on the UP or DOWN icons. To remove a station, highlight the station name in your list and click the DELETE icon (minus sign). When you are finished click the DONE button and again wait while it loads data for your new rivers.
